OK,
Last week I was setting in the house watching TV when all of a sudden, WHAM, something hit the house. I went out front and while looking around, I heard one of my other neighbors call out, "They went up the street." I walked around the house and there go two boys from up the street. One of them is carrying an aluminum ball bat and a bag.
My other neighbor came over and walked with me as we followed them up the street. He told me he saw them hit the ball, which then hit my house. I called to the boys and asked them to come back and talk to us. We were very nice and explained the dangers and cost of such behavior. The were accepting of the admonishment but didn't apologize in anyway. I considered the matter settled until the next day.
That afternoon after coming home, I let the dogs out for a run and saw several yellow golf balls in the yard that weren't there in morning. There were no witnesses to the new "run by golfballing" so I waited on the wife to get home to get some level headed advice on how to handle the situation. We decided to drop it and wait and see.
Today I get home and there are more golf balls in the yard. What is the best way to approach these people and resolve this situation. I don't want to screw this up cause it's the neighborhood and this has been a great place to live. How would you handle this, legally?
