Yeah so my AVG crap whatever on my computer "expired" and they want me to buy the 60 dollar deal and I think that damned program is a virus in itself. It keeps popping up "Yo' computa's got AIDS FOOL!" and when I click fix it or whatever it tells me to buy the damned thing. WTH?

    So.. what are my options?

    Thanks guys.

If I'm reading your sig line correctly, you're in the Air Force. Correct? The Army offers free anti-virus downloads and updates, so I'd be a monkeys uncle if the USAF don't.

Avast has done the job for me for several years. I have access to the full blown Norton Enterprise Edition from the university for free, I prefer Avast. Less intrusive, smaller foot print and since it is free, no hype. It just does it's job and leaves me alone.

Spyware Doctor plus Anti Virus is really good too, but it's not free. 40 bucks I think.

Ditto! But do I recomend buying the full version of anything you decide to use. Just my opinion after being in electronics and PCs for over 20 years.

That being said McAfee and Norton are junk. :steamed:

No one should EVER pay for antivirus software...

    Avast
    AVG
    Comodo (Includes free firewall)

STAY AWAY FROM NORTON... Even if it's free, Stay away... You've been warned..

This and learn to do a system restore, that out to fix just about any virus. Keep in mind that with free programs it's a good idea to check for updates weekly.

    VERY good man.

The best anti virus on the net is ESET NOD32 I won't run anything else. Its not resource intensive and scans on the fly. If you must go free avast is fine.
