Colt 1903. Mine is nearly 100 years old and still functions like it's new out of the box!

Do you have any experience carrying any subcompact pistol in your pocket? because it is a major pain in the butt.

I have a G27, and do not mind some discomfort while carrying, as long as i have the platform i want to carry....but...

the G26/27 is very rarely pocket carry. some on this forum say that they do, but i just cannot fathom it..

a j-frame revolver might be a good pocket carry, if you want a respectable caliber.
a Ruger LCP or LCR might be an excellent choice, or the keltecs.
kahr arms makes a small product (i personally wouldn't choose them...unless you like to send guns back to the manufacturer for reworking of reliability issues)

if you use the search function...you will find a hundred threads to peruse regarding this subject. you will be reading for days!

    good luck with your search!

SW 442. It's a light weapon and it handles +P ammo. It does not have an exposed hammer and is DA only. Good feature for a pocket carry gun.

**********************************************************"Ol' School" says back-up a quality auto(if that's your primary or EDC)with a quality revolver. I would look at either a new Ruger LCR or an Airweight J-Frame Smith. Both do exceed your $400 range. Check the used market for a Smith and maybe you can meet that price point. Good Luck....remember>>"5 for sure"!

Hard to go wrong with a j-frame. My next BUG purchase will probably be a Ruger LCR.

    G26 or a J frame.

Although it is more expensive I would actually go for the Walther PPS in 9mm

Backup for ccw? I wouldn't recommend one. For ccw when you just can't carry a fullsize gun? Airweight revolver or keltec. Pocket carry is no substitute for a proper holster, and while a 27 or 26 is slightly smaller (by both mfr specs) as a standard snubby, many report pocket carry of a 27/26 to be less comfortable than with a snubby.

    Gracias, sir.

I have my own business and am able to wear baggy cargo pants every day. In fact, I have been carrying my G19 in my front right pocket for years. So, the baby glocks wouldn't be a problem.

But, I have some khaki and more formal pants that have shallow pockets and won't accomdate much.....thus the thread.

I actually had a little Kahr PM9. That dang thing started getting little rust spots after 2 months! Sold it.

I hear the Kel-tecs are nice.....
