Looking to get value for a handgun.

    It's a never fired Walter P38. 9mm
With original numbers matching box and one mag.
Gun is immaculate. Box is in I say very good condition.

    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

Check Gunbroker to see what a similar model is going for. I'm thinking $700 to $800.

I assume you're talking about a post war aluminum framed model...

Bad thing about Gunbroker is you only see the asking price. I follow them closely and would venture a guess that 80% never reach the minimum bid set by the seller. While I have no idea what your gun is worth, in today's internet there must be a forum dealing with old Walthers.

If you have a Gunbroker account, you can see past auctions and see what things have actually sold for. Easiest way I've found is to just do your search, and add &timeframe=1&sort=9 to the end of the address bar. It'll give you past auctions in descending order by number of bids.

The Walther Forums are also pretty friendly and would probably help you out.

    Not always.

I never go by asking prices. I only look at auctions with actual bids. As LSP said above, you can also see past auctions.
