My printer at work, an HP 4500N, is acting up and my boss tasked me with troublshooting and repairing it;Q .
I hate printers, now I'm supposed to fix it when it has stumped all of the tech guys in the office:( .
The problem is that when it prints, all the information and formating is fine, it's just that there are these dark lines running vertically down the page.
I went to the HP support page and it seems like either the toner cartridge is bad, or it needs cleaning.
I completely cleaned it and checked everything, and it got worse.
    Any suggestions?
Here's a pic of what it is doing:

Part of the problem is a dirty toner drum thingy, which it advises me not to touch. But I did and wiped it off with a clean cloth, which fixed the one problem, for a few pages, then it returned. Colors are still screwy.

I'm reminded of that scene from Office Space and how they dealth with their printer/copier;) .

    Hello
Yes, is this the parts department for HP?
    Yes it is.
I need to order a part.
OK, What part would that be.
I don't know but the part number is D-O-O-H-I-C-K-E-Y.
I am not familiar with that part number. Sorry
In the machine it is right next to the part number T-H-I-N-G-Y-M-A-J-I-G.

Have you tried changing the Advanced Printer Settings on the PC it is attached to?

I'd try turning the resolution or quality down; perhaps if it is USING less toner it will start LOSING less toner?!

    Good luck,

I replaced the imaging drum and changed the yellow toner cartridge. Works great now:) .
