I just picked up a Ruger Speed Six 9mm stainless Revolver.

The price was right. Has some rust on the butt and on the the sight, but otherwise seems in great condition.

Thought it was a pretty good pick up.

I'm had been planning to be move away from .38 special/.357 to a Glock 19 or 27, but this could be a good short term solution.

Do I need moon clips to shoot this pistol?

    Any other advice appreciated.

Go here and click the revolver instruction manuals and product history, you can find out what wear it was manufactured and download a manual.

Yes it uses moon clips, you might be able to shoot it without them but you will not be able to eject the cases, you will have to poke them out with a stick. I'm sure someone sells them for this gun, this set up should be slick and make for super fast reloads.

    That helped alot!

Apparently mine was built in 1982.

Anywhere to buy half moon clips?

I will have to inquire whther the previous owner still has any.

I though they used the same clips as the S@W 547 K frames....

Neat Gun! I don't know if I ever mentioned it, but I have a fondness for revolvers in auto cartridges.:whistling:

You will have fun with this one. Enjoy!

Just bring a pencil or a stick long enough to poke the cartridges out of the cylinders and have fun at the range.

Good find. I've read they're not particularly common. I'd enjoy some pics as well.
