any idea if this 'captured' one - for $149 is what is needed?Gen 3, and earlier 1 flat wire spring. Gen 5 and Gen 4 multi spring set ups.
with a bolted in DeltaPointPro my gen5 slide is 557g. just checked. do not want to unbolt the scope now - i just zeroid it.I sure hold be curious what the slide weight is on a 34 Gen 4 vs a 34 Gen 5 vs 17 Gen 5
The Gen 4 34 slide has the top cutout, but the Gen 5 slide has some internal relief cuts.
i did not order the $149 part - springs were just $9.99. i had to cancel it anyway.Dude cancel that order ain’t no rsa worth that!
Don't order anything 'till you try a different brand of ammo. I've never heard of Venom, but as I said, the claim is over 1200 fps. With a good grip, that should cycle the slide, even with the RMR. It's possible the ammo won't crono that high and you'd need to try a well respected ammo maker. I just don't see how a lighter spring is going to push it into battery when the 17lb won't unless the slide is going back far enough to eject, but still short stroking.I just ordered this one:

i guess it should be the correct one? i tried to call them, but, no one picks up and chat is not working, covid staff shortages, i guess...![]()
i really wanted it to work 'as is'- i have several buddies who have gen 3 and gen4 G34 in a similar configuration and have no issues at all. all this was like a bad dream today. dunno what gives. just a bad luck.Wanna buy a bridge?
That's a little over 2oz. It's a diff but it isn't terrible. I'd try a diff brand of ammo before I did anything else. Leave the RMR on. Concentrate on a good grip.with a bolted in DeltaPointPro my gen5 slide is 557g. just checked. do not want to unbolt the scope now - i just zeroid it.
the G17 Gen5 complete slide is 489g.
i will definitely do that tomorrow.Don't order anything 'till you try a different brand of ammo. I've never heard of Venom, but as I said, the claim is over 1200 fps. With a good grip, that should cycle the slide, even with the RMR. It's possible the ammo won't crono that high and you'd need to try a well respected ammo maker. to get it to the context - i am in the state of MA - we have only a 2-3 online vendors shipping in here. in gun shops right now there is a quota of a single 20round box per customer and all ammo, not matter the junkiness of it is at $1 per round. all walmarts in 100 mile range are out of stock.WWB is good target ammo rated at 1190 fps and is 115 gr. Try that.
Choke down on your grip and see if you can get it to function with the 115 gr stuff. No joke, my twin daughters had to work on their grip to shoot a Gen 4 34 with one hand, and they been shooting for years. Their 1911's were very forgiving.it just pains me that i got 350 more rounds more of that venom junk and cannot use it where i want it. but, it is what it is.
Trade him some of the 115 gr Czech stuff. At least he'll still have 10,000 rds.my father in law sits on the 10k rounds pile and is not sharing.i do not blame him much, but, damn!
i will go to test it tomorrow. thx for your help - it is greatly appreciated! i hope it will work..The 124 gr looks to be 1150 fps putting it at +P and a PF of 143. If that doesn't cycle it then I'm out of ideas.
no, he is smart.Trade him some of the 115 gr Czech stuff. At least he'll still have 10,000 rds.
My Gen 4 34 slide with TruGlo Fiber Optic Pro sights is 376.7 grams.with a bolted in DeltaPointPro my gen5 slide is 557g. just checked. do not want to unbolt the scope now - i just zeroid it.
the G17 Gen5 complete slide is 489g.
I scored 450 rds of it maybe a year ago. Looks like I paid just over 18 cents a round for it. Cheapest I see it, now, is 56 cents a round with a big ass 'out of stock' at the bottom.Win 9mm NATO is my go to break in ammo.
Now only if you can find some at a decent price ;-)
