    Hi all,

Ill be going back home end December. But would need to get connected to our office vpn at least a couple of hours a day.. means I need an internet connection 24/7. With a laptop and GSM phone, what are my options? checked out Globe visibility, it seems it is only being offered to corporates.. Ill be in the phils for just 21 days,pre-paid would be more convenient i guess. But as to what service is available to address this need- - H E L P M e PlS :)

You've got a dilemma there. Most DSL providers have a lock in period when you subscribe to them (1 year), if you are staying for only 21 days that is not an option.

Connecting via Smart GPRS (using a prepaid SIM) may not also work out since they have a lot of port/services not allowed when using that service, besides, the speed sucks (but it should be a better if you have 3G phone).

You may opt to get an airborne access account but I do not know if they really offer unrestricted use (read: torrent, vpn, irc, messengers) but you may visit http://airborneaccess.net/ to check it out.

Globe Visibility is available to anyone (HSDPA). Modem is "free". Nakatali ka lang for 2 yrs.

PLDT WeRoam is a slower equivalent (GPRS). Modem is paid for up front. It comes with 5 month prepaid load.

I have both. They both work well.

Smart WiFi P988 a month and just pay another month for pre-termination.

    pj,

baka the last you checked, dial-up yung naacess mo. via gprs now is ok, its a bit faster than dial-up. i've used it a couple of times nung summer while vacationing sa mga resorts, satisfied naman ako

    Hi Mannix,

My phone would be like my modem in this case right? 10 per 30 minutes is not bad if you will compare it with pldt weRoam.

    Thanks bro.

yes. but not in dial up mode. the gprs rates were specifically lowered to competitive with internet cafes that charges similar rates
