Got a new recoil spring for my Citadel Compact (Officer size). It has the captured recoil spring. It is longer than the original spring, but has the same number of coils and is the same gauge. I cannot get it to compress to the point that I can get the 90 degree tool (paper clip) in the guide rod hole, not even close.
Is there a certain technique for installing a new recoil spring on a compact 1911? Please help. Thanks.

Glad to see you got it. By the way, that RIA at Steel was already gone by the time I got there. :crying:

That was one heck of a price at Steels.
