Ok so I'm sure you guys get way too many tech questions around here but any help would be great. Here's my problem, I run firefox and love it but while I'm online I keep getting IE popups and it's driving me nuts. When I try to uninstall the program it tells me that another program and/or person is currently using it. wtf can I do?

If you are using Firefox and getting IE pop-ups that is indictative of spyware. Do a search as spyware has been addressed nasuem ad infinitum here.

You can't really get rid of IE. It may seem like it's been deleted, but it just hides from you. As said by another GTer, it's most likely spyware. If you were getting legitimate popups (if such exist) they'd be running on Firefox, not IE. IE popups should only happen if you're using IE at the time.

SSSHHH. ....ok......go to the tools tab on IE. Hit Internet options.....now Connections..................Now,Lan settings.................zCLickt eh box for proxy settings. Now put a number into the line that opens up. This will make IE use a proxy when getting online. Will make a connection to the interent. If you still get popups. You have spyware. Personally,I use IE. I have my windows up to date and have no popups. Why, because IE has a built in popup blocker ;P

But Hey, thats what I would do. I do keep pest patrol on my PC as well.

There are a couple of viruses that will cause unexplained popups.
