I have narrowed down my choices to a BCM 16" mid, a LMT 16", or
a pinned 14.5" BCM mid. It will be my first AR and will be used for punching paper and maybe a class or two. The only accessories I will be running is a red dot. I would appreciate a any insight you guys could provide? Am I overlooking any other brands in the $5-600 range?

Flip a coin, both BCM and LMT will run just fine.

If you are in a state that allows NFA items, you may want to think long/hard about a pinned 14.5 as it somewhat locks you into what muzzle device you will be using but if you don't have any suppressor ambitions that's not as critical.

I've had two pinned 14.5 BCM uppers in the past and have since sold them. If going shorter than 16", go SBR.

I'd vote the BCM 16". The LMT would be fine too, but I've had a few BCM uppers and they've all been fantastic, less personal experience with LMT. I'm not a fan of being married to a muzzle device and gas block, so the 14.5" wouldn't cut it for me.

Yep, if I get to vote on what upper to spend your $, the BCM 16" would be my choice of the three.

I have a 16" BFH mid. If I had to do it over again I would most likely would have gotten the same but with the lightweight barrel.

Mid-length light weight barrel. A 14.7 would not bother me as I can change muzzle devices and re-pin them. BCM or LMT both are good to go.

    All good choices.
I have a complete LMT Defender 16" and a BCM upper, free floated 16" middy. Both 100% reliable, the LMT is slightly more accurate. Sample of one each.

I have a mid-length BCM 14.5" pinned with their Gunfighter comp.

It is an extremely soft-shooting AR, and I love it to death.

I ended up buying a new PSA 16" middie from a guy locally it is the one with the CHF barrel. Money saved here will allow more money to spend on a quality optic

I've only had one BCM upper to speak for personally but this post sums up my thoughts very well. I'm not a fan of a permanently attached muzzle device either.

I am looking for a very light weight AR for my next Rifle. I am looking at BCM 14.5 enhanced LW upper with their 13 " Keymod hand guard. I can live with the pinned muzzle brake.
