Well, I am in dire need of an AR case. My current on is to thin and everything I have had local to try has been the same way. I pick up on of these PMAG couplers and it makes it to wide to zip shut. Also it's tight getting around my Aimpoint on a lower 1/3 mount as well. The one I have is a cheap midway USA bag I got on BF last year. The other one I have tried is the popular LA Police Gear bag. Neither of them will zip shut with the coupler attached. This is non-negotiable. My gun is a patrol gun and I don't want to be fiddling with putting a mag in the gun when a traffic stop goes south, seconds count. It's bad enough I have to keep it in a case in the back seat to start with, I don't need any other disadvantages out of the gate. Cheaper is better but I'll spend about whatever it takes to get something that will work. I don't need something with a ton of storage, my gun and a couple extra mags will do.(really only one extra since we only get enough ammo for three mags.) I love the coupler and it's absolutely perfect for my needs so it isn't going anywhere. Thoughts and suggestions are welcome, I've come up empty.

I picked up a Blackhawk soft case with room for 5 extra pocket mags and outside storage from Cabelas for around $40-$50 ( I can't remember exact).

Go on Natchez and check out the eagle cases. I have the m16 discreet case and I carry my 870 in front and colt 6920 w/ aim point in main area. Retail for $130 were on sale for $50 when I picked mine up.

Could you link the one you got? There are a ton of them there.

This is my recommendation. Quick zip gives you full access to the rifle.

I rarely order from Natchez because they usually kill you on shipping. I have a few Eagle cases I bought when they were still made in USA and expensive.

If you are at all interested in a hard case walmart is supposed to have a Plano 36 inch (looks similar to a pelican/storm case) for $30 on black Friday. Assuming the picture and description in their ad is correct, the same case costs about three times as much anywhere else.

They are still made in USA. My shipping was $10 for case and 300 rds of .45 ammo

They want $17 to ship just the case, that is insane. I'm in NC not Alaska!

No, Mine has 5 pockets for magazines....but it is a tight fit with 1 mag in the gun without an optic (I don't have an optic on mine yet). It is the Blackhawk Sportster. I hope this helps..

$17 shipping for a rifle-sized object is nothing. You're paying for the size of the box, nothing more.

    Buy cheap, get crap.

Most of you have yet to learn that. I have some cheap cases, they're intended for to-the-range-and-back movement of multiple guns. Nothing else. I have more serious hardware for actual travel.

Problem is all of these are the same size as pretty much everything else out there 36x12x3, I catches on the top of my Aimpoint. I need something a touch wider and taller. Voodoo, Condor, 5.11, they are all the exact same size. I am not having much luck finding anything else. Ideas?

This WILL work! I carry my BCM M4 with a T-1 in a Larue mount everyday the problem is the double mag coupler. Ditch it and get a Surefire 60 round mag or just use a standard mag. Your trying t put 10lbs of potatoes in a 5lb sack and it isn't going to work. The external mag carriers put extra firepower right there too.

Additionally this setup will drop weight, bulk and the need for a reload.........

Looked at this case yesterday and plan go go pick one up today! It has the foam like a pelican case where you can tear it out around the rifle. It's a sturdy case as well.
