I just bought a new EOS Digital Rebel XTi 10.1MP. It came with the kit lens which is the 18-55 mm lens. I am new to the photography scene so I'm not sure what I should get. I would like something that I can zoom in better with. Telephoto lens?

I was looking at the Canon EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III USM. Would that be a good one or can you guys recommend a better one?

    Thanks,
    Solie

What do you shoot? That will dictate what lenses you should get.

Well... not really sure. Would like to take a lot of nature shots. Went to the national zoo with it yesterday but couldn't really get that great of shots since I had to stay back and couldn't zoom in. Would also like to be able to take some shots of my daughter playing sports on the weekends.

The 100-400 f4.5-5.6L IS USM should work depending on what sport she is playing and where you are positioned. Some people do not like the push/pull zoom but it does let you change zoom faster then a ring type zoom.

I have the XTi, and my two L series lenses are the 24-70 f/2.8 and the 70-200 f2.8. They do 90% of what I need. I'd like to get a 2x magnifier for my 70-200 to really extend my shots so I don't have to get so close.

First, though, I feel the need for a 5D.

I would always spend the money on great glass before a body.
New bodies come out all the time a great lens last much longer.

I just got the Canon 2x for my 200L 2.8. Can't wait to use it. I"m gonna post up my pics once I get back from my roadtrip.

Well those lens look good but they are kinda out of my price range.

$400 is about all I can spare right now.
