Wife switched towers on the computer and lost half my tunes, is there anyway to transfer the tunes on my ipod back on to the computer? I went to apples website and couldn't figure it out because I am a moron when it comes to computers. Anyone know?

    Dude i think you're screwed.
Do you have the old tower? if so you can transfer from that. But I think the transfer from the ipod is a no-go.

Long story short, saved half my tunes under her "my music" other half under mine, she deleted all of her "my music" folders left mine, so, no other tower is not an option.

I think your right, I am screwed. Looks like hours in front of the computer reloading from cd is coming soooooooooooooon.:faint:

No. Do a search online. You have to access the ipod as a thumb-drive, copy the contents, load it to Itunes on the new machine and then re-install your ipod as a new device on the new machine. (Thereby copying the copy of your music over the music.)

I forget how it's done, but I did it to my Nano 2-3 years ago. Computer got wiped and all my tunes were on the ipod. IIRC, it required either a program to recognize the ipod or some setting changes. It was a while ago or I'd walk you through it.

At least it's cd's you have and not itunes purchases. Those add up quick.

Just did a 500 word reply and lost it when my mouse failed.

    OK, short version:
    Find:
    lib file
    music file
    on olde drive.

    Transfer to new drive.
Tell itunes program where they are and link to.

    iTunes sucks on file management.

iPod works as a USB drive IF you set it before your problem.

If you bought the files from iTunes, they may let you download again.
    Not required of them.
Explain the villan erased broke your hard drive.
But I have sweet talked them into it before.

iTunes will do that for you as you import the CDs.

    Neato!
One setting lets you use multiple pods with one computer.
    Some selections cost?
