Hey guy's well I just got my CCW in California and I have a brand new Glock 36 I want to carry. Just hoping I can get some positive feedback on how to approach this without buying every holster known to man..lol
Anyways, I'm 5'9" 170 lbs and meduim build. There's so many options and opinions out there I was hoping I could come here and maybe have some real ppl with the Glock 36 give me some advice as to where to carry. I fit all my pants pretty snug so IWB I think is out of the question.
The 3 places I'm thinking of is either OWB, SOB or Ankle. I know that the ankle will definitly slow the draw down, so maybe should it be SOB or OWB? I like to run around in shorts or pants with a t-shirt. I also drive limo which I'm guessing unless I wear a jacket I will be SOL unless I do run an Ankle holster. Please help with postive feedback!! I'm ready to start carring safely but hidden. Thanks

P.S. Also what brand is a good fit. I've looked at Kirkpatric, Galco, blanco and Blackhawk

It's way to big for ankle, unless you get a foot taller and gain 100 lbs. Galco SOB will work, but isn't comfortable for most things. A Blackhawk kydex holster can be pretty good for OWB and is pretty cheap. For something that rides a little higher, for easier concealment, try:
Galco Avenger

The Jak Slide works pretty well too:

With what you said I would go with a belt carry. wear a baggy t-shirt for right side carry and and can also carry left side cross draw while driving. SOB is nice but a pain in the back and and cannot draw in a vehicle, same with ankle. I just bought a 36 and am trying to decide the same. looking at at a holster that allows multple cants....I like a high ride with a thumb break snap, just my preference.

Bren's got the right idea; I carry my 36 in a paddle holster made by Blackhawk (Serpa CQC) - the one made for the Glock 19, although the one made for the 26 will fit it, just the barrel will extend out about an inch.

+1 for the Galco Jakslide. Only way I have ever carried mine until here just recently when I got a G19 and use a Tagus Quick slide for either one now. You can move the Jakslide around to almost any position on the belt.

I use a cobra brand holster for IWB carry
I carry front right side, usually jeans with a loose T shirt
works great for an older, slightly over weight person.
Never prints, my shape will print if I carry kidney area.
I have also used one of coach G's holsters when I had a model 30 and it worked great.

Thanks guy's will check those out. I just got back from the store and purchase a 5.11 belt for my carry. Now my other question.
I know you should always have one in the chamber otherwise it's a paper weight. But my question is how long do you keep the same bullet in the chamber? Should you rotate it out with another one every so often?
Thanks,
Rico

Outside the Waist Band OWB is the most comfortable way to carry for most.

I personally like Bianchi Carrylok Holsters. I have three and they are all very confortable and function very well.

If you can, go to a store that has holsters you can try on. The internet is still the best place to find the best price on holsters. Most brick and mortal stores can not compete with the online sellers.

Here is the Bianchi CarryLok, model 82

Your decision. Modern ammunition can stay loaded and fire after many years - I had a magazine full of (at least) 15 year old .45acp 230 grain goodness knows where I bought them rounds - but I knew they wern't reloads. I shot them through my springfield .45 last year - no problems. I know you were talking about the chambered round - I swith it out once a month when firing self defense ammunition from my carry gun, then clean and reload with fresh ammunition. However, I know a friend who carries a Ruger LCP .380, has it loaded with Glaser safety slugs (including the one in the chamber) and has never fired it after the initial 200 rounds to break it in - it just stays in his left rear pocket where a wallet usually would be. And that has been about two years.

When I carry my G-36 it sits in a GALCO FLETCH. It is a high ride, thumb snap holster that I wear at about 3:00. Very comfortable and with the thumb snap I feel very secure while carrying it. I bought it about 5 years ago for about $75. I like it a lot! By the way, it is OWB.

I carry my G36 two ways. With jeans/shorts I use a Kholster (similar to a crossbreed supertuck but cheaper)

http://www.kholster.com/

For work I have to dress up and all my pants are custom fitted so the kholster or any other IWB holster is a no go. There is just not enough room because of the way my dress pants fit. Therefore I had to go with an ankle holster. I have been carrying this way 5 days a week for 4 months and it does take some getting used to. I looked at all the popular ankle holsters available and ended up buy a cheap bulldog holster for $20. Most of the other ankle holsters just were too big on the ankle.
