Jimi Hendrix was always Patriotic. He was in the 101st Airborne till he broke his ankle on a jump.

Well I'm still not sure about that one. Roseanne was disgusting on a different level.

Roseanne wasn't known as a singer. She's a comedian. She tried to mimic the baseball players spitting on the ground for comedic effect. I blame that performance on the people who thought it was a good idea to ask HER to sing The National Anthem.
I guess that SOMEONE will ask Whoopie Goldberg to sing it someday!

Enjoy watching Daytona. Always a lot of action, and having Trump piss off democraps by being real, was worth it.

I’ll catch another few races, as it’s more of a blue collar sport for me. Not all the look at me crap like NFL and NBA.

Chaka Khan is almost 67 y/o and her singing voice sounds old. She was a great singer in the 70s - mid 80s.

It was tough to watch that performance.

She actually sang at the Republican and Democrat Conventions in 2000.

Note to singers: There is only one way to make "your mark" on the National Anthem. Sing it the traditional way with a good voice. If you don't have a good voice, you won't nail it. If you try to "make it your own version", you will fail.
If you can't do it, that's OK, decline.

Reminds me of an APR I wrote on an airman once ( except for the masturbation thing - not that there is anything wrong with that ). Had to go to Okie City once with two SP’s to get him back to the base.

The narrative included the line; “ Airman so and so is not a total loss; he can always be used as a bad example.”

Simon Cowell might describe Chaka Khan's performance as . . . "a bit pitchy."

BTW - Catina Mack performed the national anthem at the Xfinity race on Saturday and was also very good.

Well, it was written as a poem. Not sure when music was dded, but you are correct as it should be done as written, not as interpreted.
Side note: If cancer could be cures by a vocal, I am convince that Aaron Neville could do it. I was always a fan. That doesn't mean I liked everything he did, but he put his heart and soul into it.
I love the Hendrix instrumental for the anthem. Kix Brooks did a smoking tribute to Hendrix of the Anthem as well, and did it very well.

I may have to start watching NASCAR.
