    Got my upgrade to General completed tonight. Tested for extra and missed it by one question. Will have to do some more studying and give it another go.

    Congrats on the new ticket. Although we're at the rock bottom of the sunspot cycle there's still a lot of activity.

    Do you already have an HF rig or one picked out?

    Not yet in fact don't know much about HF. Looking forward to learning though.

    Well if you passed the test you know as much as I did when I got on the air. My first contact was on 80M a couple hours after my exam.

    Are there any ham clubs around you? They could probably let you try out their stations so you can get a sense of what you want. Someone might be able to lend you their spare radio and an antenna to get you started, too.

    Congrats. I tested for Extra when I took my general because it didn't cost me anything extra. I think I got about 35% correct. :supergrin:

    I bought a book after that.
