The Force is strong in this post.....
I'm jealous and I'm not ashamed to admit it...
So are you saying your wife is ugly or that you don't have one at all?
I'm not married
Apparently a big "Star Wars" fan and can't even spell Princess Leia correctly?
.......yet you knew EXACTLY who he was talking about
And you felt the need to be critical
And you even post a pic!
No thread fail, well done.
Attractive wife and cute kid.
"Almost 40 years ago Carrie Fisher, then 19 years old and fresh out of drama school, auditioned for and won a part in a science-fiction film. Fisher’s friends joked that the movie’s name – Star Wars – sounded like a biopic of her parents, the actress Debbie Reynolds and singer Eddie Fisher, whose marriage imploded when Fisher ran off with Elizabeth Taylor. The film’s British crew thought the director, a black-bearded and strangely impassive man named George Lucas, didn’t have a clue what he was doing. As for Fisher herself, she was beginning her own intergalactic voyages into the world of hallucinogens."
But Jeez, what difference does it make? When I taught, I told my students that the first step in solving any question was to simply identify the question. The question here was, "What is the proper costume for Princess Leia?" It was not "How old was Carrie Fisher when she was cast as Princess Leia."
Can you say, "irascible curmudgeon?"
The problem is, you posted this:
The point is, she was NOT 19 when she "modeled" that outfit, she was 25. Sorry that you had facts pointed out to correct your erroneous post, and that you're not able to simply say "Whoops, my bad!".
Yes, that was quite self-evident but thank you for pointing it out again anyway.
Um, yeah - Star Wars came out in 1977. The pic of her that you posted was from Return of the Jedi, which premiered in 1983. ROTJ is the third movie of the OT (that's Original Trilogy, for non-SW geeks). ANH opened in May 1977, TESB in 1980, and ROTJ in 1983. The PT began with TPM in 1999, AOTC in 2002, and ROTS in 2005, with the latter being the last time I've visited a movie theater. TFA opens this year, and a December premiere is a departure for the series, since they generally have all opened on/around Memorial Day.
If you'd like to continue debating SW trivia, I can do this all day; you're talking with a guy who had roughly 300+ figures sealed away in the basement. While I don't do the costumes, I did go to Celebration II in Indy a few years back. I can quote all six movies, damn near start to finish, which generally irritates the wife when I make her watch them with me.
So yeah - you're correct that Fisher was 19 in ANH. The pic you posted was from a movie released six years later. In 1983. And, filmed in 1982. After her appearance in The Blues Brothers, I might add.
Just be happy we don't have a picture of her modeling that costume now. . .
A bit more trivia re: Fisher - the whole "I love you" exchange with Harrison Ford in TESB was an adlib on his part; seems she was high out of her mind on drugs, and kept screwing up her lines. Ford got tired of it, said "I know" and they kept it.
Is that a Sony Bravia?
What's the origin of that game. Used to play that at work back in the 70's!
Why yes, yes it is.
I was waiting for someone to catch that, lol.
