I was gonna do that a few years back using Wilson and EB parts and a flush crowned Kart barrel, get it either golfballed, checkered or stippled, then have it hardchromed.
Hell, I may still do it.

I helped do a cutaway helicopter turbine engine back in the Army at the Corpus Christie overhaul depot back in the late 80s as they were building a few as training aids, fun!

I couldn't bring myself to do it. Even Rock Island "cheapies" work pretty well. Now what would be tempting for me would be creating silicone molds of a functional slide frame and barrel. Then create resin castings, with resin that's been mixed with metallic powder. It would look fairly close to the appearance in the photo. The other parts could be all those MIM parts you have lying around. Waste not, want not. Besides, the molds would be re-usuable.
