    Very nice!! I don't know if the grips on the Ithica are original or not. Probably because I don't think there were a lot of options in the early 70's. I do have the sales receipt saying that it was purchased from a camera shop in 1973 for $60.

    If the grips are not original, they are at least correct;

    If you don't mind my asking, how much was it?

    I must have misread your post, I didn't realize you had the gun. Very nice, much harder to come by than a Colt! Congrats! ;)

    That Ithica is beautiful;

    For comparison on the grips, here is a Remington-Rand made in 1945 and never issued (it was made near the end of the war and was sent to the arsenal for storage and was then sold through CMP in the '50's , was shot very little if at all and then was stored), it is all original, un-refinished. 0321201854a.jpg

    Thanks for the edit.

    I haven't actually paid for it yet, but I was going to offer $1200 for it. Unless you think that is too much. ;)

    Thanks.

    That Remington-Rand is very nice!

    It's not bothering me. :) But it is reducing how much I'm offering for it. It's been a couple months since I did the research. But I seem to recall that there were people asking $2500 for an all original Ithica of the same period.

    1200 is way too much for a reblued gun! About 850 should be max on that. Bear in mind the CMP is selling original G.I. guns ( arsenal rebuilds with arsenal repark) for right at 1000.

    Prices on army surplus have long since passed my comprehension, but that sounds like a lot for a gun that has been blued - can't really say "reblued" because it was never blued in the first place. Parkerized at the factory and would have been "re-Parkerized" if arsenal overhauled - and fitted with several 1911 parts; slide stop, hammer, and mainspring housing that I can see from here.
