Looks great, I like the fact it has the 1x8 barrel twist.

What bolt carrier group comes in those M&P's, Full-auto or Simi-auto?

The 2012 S&W models I saw came with semi auto carriers, so I doubt the 2013s are any different. Since the OP's gun is a mid length, it's not as big of an issue, IMO.

OP, assuming you paid around $1k (or less) for your M&P, I'd say you did fine. The M&P models with 1/8 melonite barrels seem to be excellent production guns. The 1/9 unlined barrel models are the ones I would avoid.

    Very nice OP,

I must have overlooked it before but the "Magpul" on the lower is interesting.

I don't have any first hand experience with the S&W15 but from what I have read online they are very nice production rifles.

I have the older MOE version and it has been good to go, my brother has the same (Magpul) model you have and it has been flawless as well. Enjoy your new rifle!

    Congrats, M&P15s are solid rifles.

Personally I would throw a BCM BCG in it just for peace of mind.

Congratulations, that's the same rifle I bought about 2 months ago as my first AR.

Thank you, everyone, for your replies. I'd be shooting it this weekend, but Palmetto State Armory goofed up and sent me the wrong ammunition. As soon as I receive the 5.56s I'll provide a range report.

S&W makes a nice rifle. You won't have any issues with it at all. I've found them to be flawless in function and accurate for a factory rifle.

That's one of my two picks for my first AR... What's a rifle like yours go for these day from a fair dealer..?
