I knew it was time to purchase my first handgun but I couldn't decide what brand or model I wanted. Everyone I talked to let me know what they own but said I needed to go to the stores and put the guns in my hand and see what fits best.

Well I did. The Glock 17 fit so perfectly in my hand, it was just meant to be. The store ordered my new G17 with night sights from Glock so I had to wait a few days to get it in. I couldn't wait.

So my Glock 17 is my first handgun that I own and I think this is addicting cause I was looking at adding a G26 as well. But first thing first. Is there anything that I need to know about Glock handguns, especially the 17? I have read the manual about 3 times now. I field-stripped my gun and put it back together again. No issues.

As always pictures prove it so here you go. Thanks in advanced for your input.

great choice man. I debated between the G17 & G19 for about a week before i chose the 19 as my first gun. A month later (now) i bought a G22 to have the "full-size" gun as well. Have fun shooting! :)

Welcome! You made a good choice. Just go out and shoot it and then go home and clean it. If you take care of it , it will take care of you!

    Enjoy, Andy

G-17... great pistol... excellent caliber. Now go buy yourself a wheelbarrow full of ammo and take that G-17 to the range for a "get acquainted" session! After you've gotten thoroughly familiar with it, you might want to consider buying the G-26 or maybe something else. But as this is your first handgun, learning to use it effectively and well would be a good next step. Sincerely. Brucev.

    Great choice on the 17.
    I bought a 19 first, then a 17.
They are both great pistols, you made a good choice.

Congratulations on the new pistol. Good choice, the G17 is a tough, simple, and reliable pistol. Enjoy!

congrats on your 17, I love mine, its the rtf one, I also have an AA 22 kit for shooting 22lr. I did have a 19 and a 26 at one time but for me the 17 was the best one.

The G17 is my favorite Glock but soon you will get another and then another most likely a G26 and then the G19 and then.......more. Great choice and a Glock original.

without starting a thread for a simple question-
Is the trigger made today on a 17 or 19 the same as it has always been
or have refinements been made over the years?
Would a 3rd gen feel the same as one made in 1990 in other words?
