Be thankful that you can even get a CCW. Here in VT they don't issue them - any legal gun owner can CCW. So getting out-of-state reciprocity is impossible.

the problem is that my state has 60 days to issue or deny,

they have been taking 5 months for some people...

of course the state wont get in any trouble for breaking the law.:upeyes:

but if we the people break the law then watch out..:faint:

the other problem i see is if someone renews ON TIME, but their current one runs out on them or expires, then the state is infringing on the 2nd amendment rights of the people:steamed:

The process was horrible in mid 09 in FL. 90 days...day 89 I got it. They have improved greatly over time & now you can get it at a regional office same day. Snail mail is still 90 days but they get it out usually in 30-60.

What about getting a Utah non-resident? I dont think it requires you to already have a home state issued permit, and the reciprocity list is one of the best.

My better half's non-res Oregon CCW took 10 days, and her non-res Washington CCW took 58 days.

A friend got his recently. I think it took about 60 days (I believe that's the max allowed by law).

It's good for life though, so.. no need to worry any further.

In OK (and several other states), you cannot use a non-resident permit to claim reciprocity. You must carry a license from your state of residence to get reciprocal licensing privileges. It's the primary reason I only bother with keeping my OK license. At one time, I considered a FL non-res but determined it didn't add value.

Well I'm in Illinois. It took a court order with 180 day limit to make the state come up with a carry law. They then asked for a 30 day extension and got it. They then passed a law and gave themselves another 180 days before they have to start accepting the applications. Then they get 90 days to process them and decide if you get the permit.

So I would gladly wait 60 days if I knew I was getting a license, but as it stands now, I still can't even apply for one yet, but technically, yes, Illinois has a carry conceal law, but no one can get a state permit.

    Got to love this state.

As depopulated as your state is, and gun friendly, I can't imagine that kind of wait.

    I feel your pain.

After the local mall shooting here in Oregon last December (2012), my County went from issuing 100 permits a month to issuing 1000 a month. I submitted my application in April. Didn't receive my permit until the end of August.

My state gets around it by saying that they have 45days to issue my permit ONCE the application has been "reviewed".

So I submitted my permit in April. My "Review" date was set for August 21, and then I received my permit around September 1st (has a Aug 30 issue date).

So, I guess I'm thankful they didn't take 45days to issue after I waited 120 days to have my permit application reviewed. Waiting 4 months was bad enough.:steamed:

In general, the wait can be pretty ridiculous. In my county in NC, I had to wait a month to get into a required class, then wait two months to submit my application, then three months for it to be approved. 6 months start to finish.

me either, i will continue to carry if they draw this out past my license expiration, especially if they are going to deny my right to carry by way of wait time.

i dont care if applications have gone up 457% (yes, 457%, thats not a typo) its not my problem, its theirs.:steamed::steamed:
