Well after waiting almost 7 months of an 8 week quote, I finally got my Baer back. After being without it for so long, getting it back reminds me why I bought a Baer. The one good thing, it didn't need reliability work, so everything that was done was for my comfort.

    The following was done:

    Install Chen Magwell Suite
    Spare Extractor
    Flush cut Slide Stop
Harrison Design Rear 04 Sight, opened to .150"
EGW Carry Bevel bushing and plug
    Ionbond Slide
    Metaloy HC Frame
    Extended Mag Release
    Cleaned up frame checkering

Everything turned out very nicely, I'm really liking the Chen MW. I would have gotten it over the Heinie on my CC if I had it to do over. I also think I'm going to switch to the HD sights over the 10-8's I have been on my other 1911's.

Time for the problems, yes, there are problems besides the wait time. The shop checkered the MSH at 30lpi instead of the 20 I requested, they used a Nowlin mag release rather than the Wilson I requested, and they didn't return the magazine I sent it with. I just can't win :faint:

They did clean up the checkering free of charge, which was nice. I don't care about the above mistakes enough to push the issue. I waited long enough that I'm not going to wait anymore.

I'm going to go to a buddies farm for my shooting this weekend, the one place where I can train outside of a range booth locally. I plan to take my CC for about 300 rounds and might do the same for the Baer. Who knows, I may just start shooting my Baer for my yearly test.

I might take some more pics when I get time, but for now:

Looks good, but a 7 month wait is absurd.

Thanks, but things aren't going to change for me yet. I was planning a Vickers class but I can't attend the nearest one, so either I drive to NC or wait till next year. I was planning a for a class with Mas and the same thing happened.

    Oh well, life is a...

It took 6.5 months, almost exactly. I checked my dates again. Another project I had them do took around 4.5-5 months of a similar quote. The odd thing, there have been numerous builds that were done after mine that came back sooner. Not sure what the deal was.

They do good work, even though I've had issues with them. Your choice on who you use, I'm not out to make anyone's mind up.

Oh I know you aren't bashing em our anything. I am just one of those people that if someone gives me a time frame or a quote, they better stick to it. That is how I run my business' and just expect the same.

That kind of wait for a custom work isn't far fetched. The quote however was ridiculous. That's one of the best and cleanest looking guns I've seen on this board. Congrats.

I am speechless ! That has got to be one of the nicest TRS's around. Job well done on your choice of options. Now after seeing how good of a job your Chen MW turned out I will give SA the ok to fit one on my CC I had just sent out to them. Looking foward to a range report and I am sure it will perform flawlessly being it is a Baer.

That's about as much a TRS as Joe's Kimbers are "just a CDP, PC2, and UltraCarry".

    'nuff said.....

Actually, sounds odd, but one of the things I think really makes it look good is Baer's slide serrations....makes it look really classic. Don't get me wrong, look great with any slide, but there's something there that just works better with 'em
