Like many other G20 owners, I would like to have a long slide too. At one time I planned to buy one when Lone Wolf got the bugs worked out. However, what is the total cost? I once figured that it was $225.00 for the slide, a little over $100.00 for the internal slide parts from Lone Wolf, plus KKM barrel at $165.00 plus sights @$50 to $80, plus shipping for everything adds up to $550 to $600. Add more for any extras. Ends up costing about the same or more than a whole new long slide Glock pistol. I suppose it's worth it if you are going to hunt with it or carry it a lot, but it's too much dollars for just an occational plinking gun for me. They sure look cool though.
It was about $500, maybe a little less (I think it was actually about $450 total because of the Glock sights). I know that's new gun territory, but for someone like me, that LOVES 10mm, it's perfect. I get to turn my G21SF into a whole new gun that should be a target monster, and a hunting gun. I will use the hell out of it. Way more than I used the G21SF. BTW, it seems LWD has gotten all the bugs worked out. My rear sight cut seemed to be a tad too small, but it was easily fixed with a triangle file. Everything else seems perfect. We will see after I go to the range today. I'm expecting a few jams, and will likely have to polish the chamber a little for smooth feeding.
Shore is purty! And I don't mean that in a "Deliverance" kind of way. That thing is just a beautiful firearm, no ifs, ands, or buts. What brand barrel do you have there? I notice I don't see the wolf on top of the slide, which is nice. Could just be the angle. Dunno. What I do know is that your efforts and your investment paid off handsomely. That is something that I can only aspire to. Good job! Keep us posted.
Thanks, I really like it. I can tell the long sight radius is gonna help tremendously. The barrel is from Lone Wolf, I just got it blind marked. The wolf and caliber markings are on the bottom. I couldn't handle having this nice gun with that wolf on top. The slide was also blind marked. They normally have a wolf on the back of the right side. No thanks.
Great concept! When I hand loaded, my guage was how much the primers were melting during ignition. I'd back off when they looked like melted ice cream. Good luck.
I'm a pretty experienced loader. I've loaded about 6,000 rounds of .45ACP, and almost 10,000 rounds of 10mm, with no problems. In fact, the ONLY problems I've had at all were 3 light strikes. They were all from primers that weren't fully seated. Only 3 FTFires in over 15,000 rounds is good enough for me. I've always used stock barrels, and with them I measure brass expansion. I have a good stockpile of maximum load workups, but many of them can likely be bumped up with the LWD barrel. It's harder to know when to stop a workup when using a fully supported barrel like this. I'll probably watch the primers. If they start popping out, I know to stop!!!
