Just kidding, but that's what it truly felt like today after I shot my newly bought AR10 .308 Win and before I took a few practice rounds with my G20.

Holy smokes this AR10 thing is a monster that feels like a cannon. Would sure like to have one on me when hiking in bear country but it is not light.

good glocking all

Worse thing I ever shot was a 45LC derringer.

I would rather shoot a AR10 buttstock to groin then shoot that derringer again.

Well maybe not....

Yeah, AR10s are a lot of fun. Shoot something like a S&W 629 4" with a stout load, and it will make that G20 seem weak too.

I agree. My hand hurt for several days after shooting the 45LC derringer. Never again!

Good point your making. All I had ever shot growing up where big rifles (lots of 22’s) 12 gauge shot guns and 44mag/ 454 pistols. When my brother and I got our first G20s we where grinning ear to ear with how easy they are to shoot. Worst thing I ever shot is a 3 way tie.
500sw snubby non ported, hnr handy rifle with a crazy hot 45/70 load and 870 shooting 3” full power slug loads. Good times.

I have a Taurus 5 shot .357 snub (I don't know why I own it), full house loads are like catching a fastball bare handed.

My G20SF with a 22lb recoil spring and 5” KKM barrel handles 10mm with ease.

Now you gotta go shoot a .22 Derringer. LOL
Worse thing I ever shot was a 45LC derringer.
A guy at my club had a 45-70 derringer with a .410 in one barrel and a 45/70 in the other, at our water jug and pin shoot. He fired the 45-70 first. I was standing behind him and was sprayed with shot from the .410. He started jumping around waving the gun with the .410 shell and hull still intact, blood spattering everywhere. I took it from his hand. The hammer had cut the web of his hand. He needed several stitches.

There is brave and there is stupid. 45LC is brave 45-70 on the other hand....

The G20 is about as powerful as you can go, staying in moderate recoil, and staying in a not so overly large and heavy pistol. Desert Eagle 44 and 50AE , along with 44 automag are more powerful, but you’re stepping up to a big heavy gun to gain not enough foot pounds of energy to justify it.

It would be cool to own the big guns, don’t get me wrong. But I’ll tell you where the G20 Shines IMHO: 15 round capacity. This is why it’s become more popular for grizzly protection. Because many hunters have more piece of mind with 15 +1 rounds of 10mm vs 6 to 8 rounds of 44 mag. And its still a pretty normal full size pistol compared to 44 mag auto pistols.

Many 10mm enthusiasts have their glocks set up to fire hot loads which deliver 750 ft-lbs of energy with 180 grain bullet. To put that in perspective a 230 grain hp from 45 ACP delivers 369 ft-lbs; and everyone knows the 45 has a reputation for knock-down power. Those figures impress me. Shoot, I’m happy with 650 ft-lbs with warm loads like silvertip, trophy bonded, and sig v-crown. Plenty of power.

By the way, i just discovered Automag Corp. started back up in 2015. Their website says they got 2700 people lined up waiting on a 44 automag. If you go to the site, watch the video and look how violent the recoil is on it, relative to 10mm anyway.

Everything has mild recoil compared to Federal 357B's in this:

Very true! I'm good for 15-20 "full house" 125 gr Magnum loads in a 340, then its time to switch to something a little more "tame" for the rest of the shooting session.

I'm thinking a S&W 329PD is probably worse....Haven't had the pleasure yet...

Had a firecracker go off in my hand when I was a kid. This is about the closest thing (with hot 357's).
