Oh my god I [email protected]#$ myself! LOL. I was so nervous. I couldnt friggin think, absorb information. In one ear and right out the other. I was asking the same questions over and over. Anyways. I did ok for my first time according to everyone there. But I did make some SERIOUS mistakes as well:( Not proud of that. But I kept telling myself I'm new and it's going to happen. Next I'll be better. I used the one holster I made for my G21 without it's light and the mag holders I made too. I have yet to post pics of them. Everyone like the stuff I made. It all worked very well. The tab at the bottom of the holster that holds the holster up started to bother me at the end of the day but I'm working on a fix for that now. I just need to create a wider surface for that tab so the tab isn't poking me in one small spot.

:dancingbanana:Congratulations on your first match. I know how you feel about being nervous. I had maybe 10 procedural penalties in my first match because I was so used to shooting a different method, but that all gets worked out the more you shoot in them. Good luck in the next one, since it sounds like you're hooked now.

Congratulations on stepping out and trying something new. I love hearing about a shooter's first time in the action-shooting sports. Whether USPSA, 3-Gun, IDPA or any of the others like that, they are all tremendous fun. While not officially practice, shooting under stress is the best way to shine a light on what skills you need to work on and what gear you may need to change out to better suit your needs. I had about the same reaction at my first match and drove home with a smile a mile wide. I joined IDPA for their 3-year membership that same night and my only regret is not knowing about it and shooting it sooner.

I love IDPA. I cut my teeth on USPSA and now do only IDPA--it doesn't teach me as many bad habits. <g> One thing--when using cover, your legs and half your torso have to be in cover. You're kinda stepping out. They should have called ya on it, and I'll bet they do next time.

Nice job, and I'm glad ya had fun!

Congrats. IDPA is my favorite action pistol game for sure. Always a good time. I had a hard time remembering what the SOs and MD were telling us as far as how to run the stage. I finally asked them if we could start putting a printed copy of the stage and the SOF up at the beginning of each stage. It's worked out well. I don't see anyone getting chewed out for not remembering the walk thru, and shooters seem to do better and make less mistakes.

We often don't use a cover garment during club level matches, anyways. We break all kinds of rules on club level. Using G17 mags loaded to capacity in a 26 or a 19. shootin a ported 19c. all kinds of junk, tee hee. At least we're having fun, eh?

Everyone makes a few mistakes, but it looks like you did very well!

ETA: Here's one of my stages that I screwed up. After engaging the six with a single round, we were to do a tac-load then re-engage the six again going back the opposite direstion, then hit the 2 plates. When I made my tac-load (and I still can't figure out how this happened), I re-inserted the mag that I had just taken out which brought me to slide lock, forcing me to now do an empty load before finishing the course of fire. If I would have done the tac-load like I normally do, and pull the new mag from the pouch prior to ejecting the partial mag this wouldn't have happened.

IDPA is definitely a blast. I go twice a month and shoot with my G30. Last month my girlfriend and my sister came along, they both had a great time shooting and learned a lot. My sis wasnt too happy because they only allow 11 rounds in a mag and she carries a G19, so she was 5 rounds short of a full gun. The girlfriend did pretty well with her PF9, considering it only holds 7+1, she definitely had to reload a lot.
Fully worth the money spent, which really isnt a lot (unless you shoot .45 haha). Beats the hell out of standing on the range and shooting paper.
