I don't own a lot of "specialty" cookware but I do own a pot made specifically for cooking and draining pasta: the Bialetti Spazio System Pasta Pot. http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/601-2279681-8473732?asin=B00006JLPY&AFID=Pricegrabber&LNM=B00006JLPY|Bialetti_SpazioSystem_Pasta_Pot&ref=tgt_adv_XSP10001 (Currently out-of-stock at Target). I originally bought one at Target ($34) and it had a blue anodized outer finish. Several months later, I spied the same pot only in a green "enameled" finish at Big! Lots for probably half that. The green pot was some sort of closeout and was some sort of Rocco DiSpirito ("The Restaurant") line of products. The non-stick finish on the blue pot didn't last very long. The green one, however, has held up like a champ. The pot has a locking perforated lid and is oblong in shape to accomodate dropping in strand pasta so that the entire length is immediately immersed in boiling water. I love it.
