Praying for all of you. I still have my Pop and can't imagine otherwise. Nothing can compare with a great daddy. Praying, brother.

    Eric, my heartfelt condolences.

I know I'm not the only one on GT that enjoyed knowing your father through his stories/posts.
I'm thankful for his stories, and especially his sharing them with all of us.
He lives on through these stories, and our memories of him.

I wish you and your family/friends peace at this troubled time.
    RIP, Bill.

Eric asked me to unstick this, but there are some old timers who check in that knew Bill who have not seen this news.

I’m going to leave it up for a while longer.

    So sorry to hear Eric.

I'm not a prayer guy, so I'll just say that time will make it better which you already know. It will be a good day when you can think about him with a big smile. It will sneak up on you faster than you think.

I never knew your father and hadn't even heard of him until a week ago.
I'm reading the thread of his stories and he sounds very much like a man I wish I had known.
His days in Korea were vastly different from mine ('79-'80) but I can envision just a bit of what he wrote about.
    I send my condolences.

Sorry for the loss of your Dad Eric.
I pray the God of all hope, Christ Jesus, give you and your family a double portion of grace and strength. In Jesus name.

We stand on all the good memories, and are forever grateful, for what time we had the ones we've now lost...

    Blessings

A very long time ago, when WalterGA was being his normal Bill gave him a dressing down for being rude to me.

I thought very highly of him as a person. May he rest in peace and turn wrenches on the greatest of cars in the kingdom of Heaven!!

Despite our history, I'm very sorry about your father's passing and the pain you're feeling.

If I may be so bold, one thing that has helped me grieve, and will hopefully help you at this sad time is to recognize that the imprint of loved ones and mentors on those they have touched is indelible and profound. That while they are no longer with us, what they taught will remain a part of us to carry and to pass on to those we love and that look up to us. Now you have to learn to live without one of the most important people in your life and that can be a very daunting proposition for anyone. After 30 years I still cry when I think about my grandmother and grandfather but their influence on me all those years still shapes me to this very day and then I think about all the lessons he used to give me about being a man, and I smile at the thought of what those talks did for me.

To proceed in life in prolonged sorrow is not grieving. Grieving is recognizing that death has taken your father, mourning his loss, celebrating his life, and then growing as a man from his loss.

I never met your father, but I don't think he would expect anything less from you.

Eric, my deepest condolences to you for the passing of your dad. Bill sounded like a hell of a guy and his stories were great. He, you, and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers. Godspeed, Mr. Powell.
