My oldest turns 21 in July. Today she took the NC concealed class. 100% on the written test and 30 for 30 on practical (shooting).

    I'm proud of her.

That's great. Put my girls through training with local sheriffs dept. and of course took them shooting myself, got them both Glocks for a wedding present. Oldest carries daily.

good on both of you. now go and both you do a few idpa or uspsa matches to get better acquainted with your guns and gear and see how you hold up under just a little pressure! and it's a lotta fun!

I'm happy to hear that she did so well with an auto. As I recounted on another thread, the auto users in my NC concealed class were largely a sorry lot. Most auto users had to repeatedly bump their slides into battery; it was a ridiculous spectacle. I avoided complications by intentionally bringing a K-frame S&W service-style .357 Magnum with a 4" barrel.

Funny you note the wheel gun. My daughter and I have been shooting together since she was 5 and she's been eyeing concealed carry since she turned 16. By far her favorite choice of my collection is a Titanium Taurus ported snubbie shooting 110 gr silvertips. I got that gun as a "throw in" on a trade, but she loves it.

I'm a big believer in snubbies and carried several prior to the passage of NC's concealed permit law when I worked in a retail store environment. My favorite is Ruger's SP-101 in .357 Magnum with a 2.25" barrel and a removed hammer spur. I still sometimes carry the SP-101 as a primary gun.

I'm curious about shooting standard-velocity Silvertips through a ported barrel and the associated velocity loss. On the other hand, my standard backup fare is an unported S&W J-frame .38 Special loaded with the 110 grain Silvertips.

That's great, I bought my daughter a 9mm, she said she was going to carry and at least take a class. She shot it and now won't finish the training. I told her to make the time and I would absorb the cost. Im going out of town for a few weeks for work, when I get back I'm going to see if I can motivate her. She lives alone, I wish she would be more confident that's all. I have a Gen 4 19 I may trade her just so she may go for it.
