Was a ground-pounder, 1947, [39th Inf. Div.] basic training at Ft. Dix, N.J. After that stint, became a member of USAF, 1951-1955, attached to a fighter wing at Cape Cod, Otis Air Force Base, a year there, and was shipped [whether I liked it not] to Korea, Soul City Air Base. That was called K-16, then to Kimpo [K-14, home of Sabre Jets], Air Base, all through Korea. Hope I accomplished something for that [police-action] war. Was discharged, went to college, and here I am, still kicking after so many years.
:soap: No, I did not eat any Kimchee, couldn't get by the smell.

You have contributed more to this great country than 90%+ of Americans.

Korea, no Kimchee? What was wrong with you....

    Oh, your nose worked.

The trick is too hold your nose, chew, swallow, eat lots of rice...repeat if necessary.;f ;f ;f ;f

Good kimchee will clear a room...

Thank you for serving!! Every time I hear a story like yours and other veterans I get a chill. My dad was in B24s in WWII making runs to Ploesti and Berlin. Took a lot of flak on a Berlin trip and they had to ditch in the North Sea. Got out after it was over then got recalled for Korea and spent a long time there. Then he went to Thailand and Vietnam as an 'advisor'. He retired in 67. What a life!!! And then a few years after that it was my turn. But that is a different story.
