this will be the first time ive built any rifle so i figured id document it and take pics and such. my plan is to prety much make a copy of a standard mil issue A2, for 15 years ive qualled almost annualy but neveg shot marks man. i figure having one to practice on may help, that and its something ive alwasy wanted.
im starting out with a spikes tatical lower, so far ive got a magpul MOE triger guard. i like the fact it allows a larger opening And is plastic. ive also picked up a standard A2 pistol grip.
i would consider this a "budget" build, since im not trying to max it out with every gadget you can buy. however, small upgrades may apear. im also going to keep a running total on parts.
    more to follow.....

just made an update. i never realized how hard it is to find a 1/4-28 thread bolt. after striking out at home depot i went to lowes. they only had regular bolts but i gave it a shot. i was worried that the socket would not fit in the grip. worked out perfect and for 59 cents for four of em im not complainin! gonna update with some pics too.

bump for parts update. the spring kit kinda blows. it a good start but you still need 2 more detent pin springs and some of the other springs seem crappy.

I like what you are doing, sounds like a great project. If I were you, I wouldn't piece together all the lower parts, I would buy a quality lower parts kit that contains everything needed. I highly recommend G&R tactical for this. The most important areas to get it right in my opinion are the LPK, the BCG, and the barrel.

Why not just go with a LPK? Heck, a top of the line DD is only $80. After sourcing all the parts yourself I can't imagine you would save more than a few dollars. Factor in your time/gas/shipping you'll likely come out ahead. Good luck with the build! What plans do you have for the upper?

im in no hurry to build this. the upper will be nothing special. just an A2 w/20" barrel. my next build will be custom.

The Delton barrel should be just fine. The ones I have played with years ago were reliable, and generally grouped about 3-5" patterns

well, its all done. need to get pics up. it functions great. ran 20 rnds through it, only malfunction was the bolt didnt lock back on last round. pro mag mags arnt the best. the back of the mag needs to be filed down so the bolt catch will be pushed up by the follower. now i need to go sight her in!
