Got this guy at 8:15 Saturday morning.
Guess I should give a little background on this one. He was taken in St. Joseph county in northern Indiana. I was in a stand that morning, and saw him come in from the cut soybean field a little over 20 yards away. He seemed like he was hot on a scent, with his head down as he walked the path. I drew and followed him through my sights as he passed in front of me, with small trees obstructing my shot. As soon as he got past the brush, I let the shot go at about 20 yards. He ran across a large creek, and I could see him as he did a spin on the other side of the creek, and then went down.
I was using my PSE Nova with NAP Thunderhead 100 broadheads.
Nice one Chief, and with a bow no less!
congrats on the bow kill!
are you going to shoulder mount?
Yes, it's already at the taxidermist's. I'm getting a straight-on upright mount. Plain Jane, but I think that will be nice for this deer and its symmetrical rack.
Other bucks I've taken on the same land in previous years.
