I just wanted to say hello to all of you because I am a total nembie here. Well my story begins several months ago when I started saving for a pistol for my 21st birthday I looked at a very wide vareity of pistols but no glocks..... sorry guys I thought they were ugly and had heard the KB myths ........well flash forward to yesterday the day after my 21st birthday I go to the mesquite gunshow here in texas looking for a smith and wesson model 29-2. After not finding anything I left the show with one of my friends and we went to DFW gunrange where he was going to shoot his berreta .40S&W. well I had no pistol so I decided to rent one. they didn't have a .44mag so I asked about 10mm pistols they had one a glock 20 so I was likesure I will fire a glock thinking I would hate it or it slam me with recoil and not be accurate ;g well after a hundred rounds I had three things, a giant stupid arse grin on my face, the best pistol groups I have ever shot on the paper before me and a rather large ammo bill the giant stupid grin on my face had not faded and 24 hours later sill hasn't I have completely changed what pistol I want to make my first ever purchase of a handgun ..... a Glock 20:) on to my question is topglock the best price I will get on a gen III or will I be able to find someone at the dallas gunshow this weekend to have a lower price. sorry for the long post guys I just wanted you people to know that I am a total convert and i can't wait to have that pistol in my hands a again;a ;f

I don't know where the best price is for sure. I just wanted to say that the Glock 20 was my first 10mm (1994). It was my first Glock (although I've only bought 3 - all 10mm's).
Be warned though, the 10mm is a disease. It'll suck you in and you're hooked (see my signature line) - it all started with one 10mm! ;)

    Robtheman,

You can thank me later for the rental G20 at DFW Gunrange that you shot. It took me awhile to convince my bosses that we needed to carry the 10mm Glocks as rentals.

    Good luck.

    Best,
    Dave

Not that the G20 isn't a great pistol; it is. However, you'd be remiss in your research if you didn't try a G19 and G21. Both offer better ammo availability than the 10mm's. The G21 is probably the softest shooting .45ACP that you'll ever shoot.

TopGlock does have very good prices for brand new glocks. Last week they were having a sale on all glocks, I think $485 for a brand new G20 (The cheapest I,ve ever seen). My very first weapon was a NIB G20 and I paid $569 for it (pretty steep). But it was the only shop in town that carried it (under $600) and I had already been waiting over a month for another store to order it and I was starting to get the shakes. Anyhow I love the weapon to death but I kinda wish I would have bought a used one to save a little money. I however, had to have the genIII and the only used ones I could find were the strait lined boxy looking genIIs. To answer your question yes, topglock has great prices but I believe you will have to pay shipping (about $20)plus a ffl transfer fee ($15-$50) and who knows when topglock will decide to send it out. I recomend you check out the next gun show where all the dealers in the Dallas area should have a booth and see if you can't find one there for a good price. You may pay a little more than topglock but at least you'll be able walk out that day with a G20 in your possesion. Who knows if you're open to buying used weapons you may find one for a really good price.
Just to give you an idea $500-$520 is good for a brand new G20.

If you can find a gunshow, try there first. The last couple here in Houston, they were trying hard to get rid of Glocks with 10 round or less mags. The G20's were going for $475-$485 NIB. Good luck but it "is" a disease.

Prices will be going up on Glocks. Glock announced a price increase and all distributors are held to it as of this week. I believe it is a 2% increase.

Correction from above...our shipping is $15.

The margin on guns is pathetic. A "good" gun dealer in the consurmer's eyes (especially here on GT) makes little to no money on the gun itself. Glock 12 gun stocking dealer renewal packages aside (sold in 2 days) the normal price leaves very little for the average gun dealer in the way of profit. That and the fact that credit card companies get you for 3% on internet transactions.

Bottom line: get it where it is cheapest for you.

I went to the same gun show and bought my G20. I paid $569 w/ factory night sights, (2) 15 rd mags, and (2) 10 rd mags. I think it was 615 after tax, I was very happy. I believe it was from Scherer firearms or something similar. There is another show at Market Hall in Dallas and I think they will be there.

I have a Kimber 10mm, but I have been wanting a G20 for some time also. Personally, I think you are making a great choice for a first pistol. Bullets are more expensive unless you reload. I began reloading around 21 also, it's pretty easy and the equipment pays for itself pretty quickly.

A G19, 1911, G21, or Beretta 92F are good ones to look at as well.

    Good luck with your purchase.

This was the advertised deal. To make it even more "special" the mags have LE/GOVT only printed on them :D. I'm not sure on the gen3 glocks, maybe someone else can help out with that.

I was at the gun show at Big Town this weekend as well!!!

Did you see the dealer that had three Glock 20??? One was $454 and it had two 10 round magazines and two 15 round magazines. That seemed to be a good deal. Maybe he will be at Market Hall this coming Saturday...
