anyone heard of this? probably been posted before.

I am a firm believer that if two people have a problem they cannot settle with words, they should be able to go scrap it out in private.

    opinions?

Within reason I agree... But in today's overly litigious society, it would have a high rate of failure.

Medical costs, property damage, sore loser filing lawsuits, just to name the obvious. The waiver I had to sign just to spar at the gym was 2 pages long...imagine what legislation would have to look like for a city/state to be held harmless if participants agreed to mutual combat.

If you want to fight, join a boxing or MMA gym or risk suffering legal problems.

Edited to add...I do, in fact, realize that some states have mutual combat laws...I just don't think they would hold up if something were to really go wrong. If the officer in the story above just stood and witnessed one of those guys seriously injure or kill the other combatant, I am confident that A) he would be a former officer, and B) dead/injured guys family would sue everyone in a 5 block radius that actually had propery or medical insurance. Someway, somehow, the lawyers and politicians would figure out someone to blame.

I honestly think that if two people have enough issues with each other, they should be tossed into the ring for a bare knuckle, no holds barred brawl. Have people pay to watch it. Why watch fake wrestling when you can watch the real thing?

But I'm also of the mind that we need to start moving away from our current government run criminal facilities, and move something closer to death race, where it's privately run, and the inmates get to work for their food, instead of sitting in a cell all day.

If the government can't run a whore house for profit, how can we expect them to run anything for profit? Meanwhile, some corporations are making millions, or billions in profits every year. Let them do what they do best, make money. It's not like all that potential labor is doing any good sitting on their bunk watching Jerry Springer all day.

That's why our PD is under investigation by the DOJ.

It's when mutual combat turns into Mortal Kombat that the lawyers would have issues. Can you imagine the crowd gathering around yelling "Finish Him"?

You can't get here from there!
    Bring back dueling.

It might solve some of the problems with Washington.

Eurodriver might even solve his issue with the old woman on the bicycle.

    Regards,
    Comrade Happyguy :)

Think she'd put one through his 10-ring, then take his jetski for a spin?

I miss the days of kicking someones stupid ass for being... well, stupid. I don't know how many fights I got into as a young man, but I do know they solved problems and establish very clear boundaries.

I bet Tina Turner STILL uses those ear rings for ad hoc ramps when she changes the oil in her ride. LOL

Yeah, me too. Wait. I haven't gotten into a fight since grade school. One shoving match in Jr. High. If I had to kick ass every time someone was stupid, I'd be Bruce Bleepin Lee.

What are the legal implications of stealing someone's soul?
