That’s one of the most pitiful jury verdicts I’ve heard since the OJ verdict.

I would be VERY interested to see the age, sex, race, and education level makeup of that jury.

They should be ashamed. What’d they do, pool UC Berkeley students for a jury with a cop killer? That’s really the only scenario I can see.

Introducing "reasonable doubt" into a defense can be an easier thing, especially depending on any collection of jurors, than some people might imagine.

This is a case of what happens when you have a good defense lawyer and a so-so Prosecuting Attorney.
Really running through the woods with a rifle after you hear your girlfriend call the cops any reasonable person would think the person telling you to drop your gun was the police.
Sad to say that is the county I grew up in.

You beat me to this. In voir dire and through the trial, the prosecution needs to harp on the definition of "reasonable doubt" and "beyond a reasonable doubt" and give definitive examples. I just can't see how a jury made such a poor decision after it had been made known to them that the bad guy, after acting in a way law enforcement was or would be called on him - especially by his wife who did call, shot and killed a person clearly acting like an officer who was trying to detain him for their criminal conduct.

This P.O.S. won the lottery, and I only hope his conscience eats him alive.

Still total BS.

He was fleeing the scene of a crime. With a rifle. Had knowledge the police were coming.

Sad thing is those jurors don’t even know how bad they screwed up. They are convinced they did the right thing.

I bet his family takes a hit out on that scumbag.

In 1978 a gangmember took a Deputy's revolver while attempting to handcuff him and executed the Deputy. Suspect got only manslaughter instead of murder because it was not the suspect's gun.
