    Just out of curiosity:

Would it be technically feasible to have three different top ends of the same caliber on a single STI/SVI frame?

Example: On one STI long dust receiver, can you have one limited top end, another for modified, and a third for open, all 40sw caliber?

    What are the pros/cons?

yep. even if they are of different calibers. potential problem would be slide/frame fit but i think its tolerable.

if you are using new slides you can have your smith fit them the same way so slide to frame fit wont be a problem. for the open top go with a 38 super. also you'll probably be using a ramped barrel when you make your purchase choose the same type of ramp for all 3 barrels either wilson/nowlin ramp or para/clark ramp.

you can use an allchin style mount or this

    JJ,
if you're using a trubore barrel you could use the same slide for standard and open.

I think it'll be easier to use a slide mounted optic so u won' t have to remove the mount.

Correct me if i'm wrong but isn't the trubore a barrel with a comp? Isn't the breechface different with the 40 and 38super?

do you mean your 40sw slide works with a 38 super barrel?

do the extractor and ejector also work?

i think the 38super extractor is the same as for the 40...

i think locally the one who fixes that na alam ko really worked is Rico Papa i'm just not sure if he would work on others.

yup, they have the same parts but maybe fitted and adjusted a little different. they might work for both without adjustments in some cases. your smith will know better. i've asked this question in be forum and someone said that he has a pistol that can fire 38super,9mm and 40 just by changing his barrel
