Apologies if this has been asked.
I have done some reading and some search to not find a "correct" answer.
Things are happening in my life, and moving to WA state is a semi-viable option.
For anyone who has done the move from CA, or other state that requires gun registration, what needs to happen? Just take them with me and not do anything?
My understanding from the reading I have done, is that they do not have to be registered, except for buying from dealer, and not PPT?

I lived in Spotucky for a couple years ~ a decade ago. Not a place I want to go back to though. I have friends/family that live in WA state/OR.
And, other than the fact that Texas has better Mexican food than WA state, No.

All the other Californians before you are ruining the state. Not saying that you're like them, but if you reside on the West side, you will find it very familiar.

Gun laws here will soon be like California's. You now have to go through an FFL if you want to sell your firearm to your buddy, or to your uncle, or to a stranger.

My area has ONE FFL and he is a sheriff's deputy who works out of his home. I have to drive 30 miles out of my way and make an appointment to do business with him. However, there are five pot shops within 15 miles of me, so there's that...

I'm planning on selling my home within the next two years and moving across the border to Idaho. The governor and the democrats who are now a majority have listed stricter gun control as a priority. One bill that failed a couple of years ago when republican's still had some power left was one that outlawed all semi-auto rifles and handguns that could potentially hold more than ten rounds.

The latest attempt they are pushing through will require registration and licensing of "assault rifles" and paying a $50 fee per each rifle every year. Failure to do so will be a felony.

Once I sell my home and start over in Idaho, I'm staying and fighting tooth and nail the California cancer.

Yeah, it's like California, Oregon and a lot of other states that have an extreme leftist population on one side of the state that ruins it for the rest. There are some great folks on the Eastern side of Washington and Oregon and in Northern California.

But Seattle is a freaking mess and the Yakima and Walla Walla area is over run with illegals.

I have friends who live in the eastern part of the state but it is slowly turning also.

I lived in Tacoma for close to 14 years from 2000 to late 2013. We fell in love with Pac NW. it is friggin beautiful. Bought my first handgun and rifle there. In and out of the store in 45 min. Let’s face it WA has a long way to go to catch up to CA anti 2A madness but it’s well on the way. Like CA few ultra liberal metro areas control the rest of the state. Most of the state is conservative. But it is on the wrong path and like others said I’d never move back. Let’s face it. The country’s west coast is lost. Our hope is that west coast cancer is contained. If you can, check out Idaho and Montana. Even Oregon isn’t as infected. In any case best of luck.

My wife was born in WA (East side) and we have a lot of family living all over the state. I have a close friend (hired together at my former agency) who left early and lives up there (north of Seattle area). We've made frequent trips to WA over the last 30-odd years, mostly in the greater Seattle and Peninsula areas.

If we ever leave CA, WA is most likely going to be our destination for the rest of our lives. The gun laws still seem a few decades behind the convoluted, restrictive ones here in CA. There are many, many other things to consider than just gun laws when it comes to choosing a state, though, even as a retiree.

I see my contribution as a conservative being helpful to areas which have seen a gradual influx of more liberal thought. CA needs more folks of a conservative inclination, but other states, like WA, could probably use it, too.

As far as moving out of state, NV is the only other place I am considering at this point. I would like to own a house somday, and unless I win the lotto it is not happening in CA.
The hardest part of all this, is convincing my gf about moving. We have been together for almost a decade, and known each other for twice that.

You thought about moving farther north up the coast? Like Eureka? Small homes under $200K and that would put you at about a $1150 monthly mortgage.
