Excellent movie, very realistic. They had actual surviving veterans of the Outpost Keating play their own real life roles.

Its not always intent to do harm, its often stupidity, or arrogance or situational blindness.

Well I was at iTunes looking to find a bargain comedy for $4.99 and what do I see on the main page, the movie "Outpost" had shot to number 1 and had 80% plus ratings. When I bought it had just been released maybe hours before I bought it in the early hours of July 3rd. No ratings and it wasn't even on the charts. I took about $$$ gamble to buy and worth every penny. I'll probably watch it again in a month or so. Later.

We watched it Saturday night and I thought it was good, but due to the time constraints of a 2 hour movie there was A LOT left out. If you enjoyed the movie I'd highly recommend reading the book, and also read Clint Romesha's book, RED PLATOON.

Now just finished watching it. Wow. Very moving film. Very well done. A lot of courageous men fighting for their lives and the lives of those around them. Be sure and watch to the very end through all the credits.

Just now watched it. Very good movie. I'd say equal to 'BlackHawk Down'. It was painful to watch those brave men being overrun by the enemy due to crappy leadership higher up.

I was able to watch it last Friday ............ I thought it was very well done.
At the end when they showed the pictures of the actors lined up next to photo's of the "real" soldiers and listed the medals won was very powerful.

I have a "stupid" question for those in the know??????

While I understand the country is less than flat, why would you build your post in a tight valley, literally surrounded on all sides by steep hills/ rubble?
Why would you allow night after night of hit and run nuisance attacks?
Wouldn't you have patrols or other early warning systems to avoid a big surprise?
Why would you leave troops in clear danger as targets when you have already made the decision to depart?

I'm guessing there were a lot of political decisions made.

You have to have bases where you can access the areas the enemy is. Sometimes this may force you to build a base in a sub optimal position because of geography.

Remember you’re watching a movie, so the timeline is condensed. Events in the movie took months to unfold and you’re watching the whole thing in 2 hours.

They went out, patrolled and fought the enemy outside of Camp Keating quite a bit. They had LRAS’s and NVG/Thermals watching for the bad guys.

Good movie. Well done, but the CGI explosions and 64’s at the end really ruined what could have been a great movie.
