Music can really help make or beak a movie. Ennio Morricone did such a great job writing evocative music for the Sergio Leone movies and Trevor Jones did great in Last of the Mohicans.

In the great review I posted for Cop Out it mentions how the movie is a throwback to 80s cop movies and Harold Faltemeyer's score is all cheesy and synth based as an homage. It totally works. Reminds me of Fletch and Beverly Hills Cop.

Just tonight I was watching The Dark Knight and was thinking how good the minimal score was. It's like a deep noise that builds as tension rises.

There are 2 movies of note that both use Moby tracks to great effect.
First is Heat. At the end when DeNiro is dying and the credits roll, the music is called God Moving Over The Face of the Waters.
Second is The Beach with Leonardo DiCAprio. Whenever I hear Porcelin now I picture that beach.

Lots more come to mind, but Im an exception because I'm a huge movie buff and a musician so I can talk about it for hours.

Strangely, my friend and I were watching Top Gun over the weekend and we noticed how cheesy the score was. Seems that music has become very minimal nowadays and back in the '80's it was everywhere.

    "Forrest Gump" for sure.

I also LOVE the dark music throughout "There will be blood"

Also gotta love the music in "Lonesome Dove"!
