I owned the Remington 700 used by Tom Berringer in Sniper 3.

The same on shown on the DVD cover.

It was modified to look like an Accuracy International with an AI stock and a new AI shaped cocking piece / bolt shroud.

Another one of my rifles was also used in the film, a TBA M40A1, but it's out of focus in a scene where Berringer walks behind a line of guys on the range.

I thought the movie was rubbish but I made a bit out of gun rental to a good friend who is a movie armourer. It was much easier to get the guns, especially full autos to Thailand from New Zealand than the US.

Harry Callahan made the M-29 a Legend in his movies. A solid gun it would have been very popular anyway but the movie made it a Legend.

Bond sold more pistols (Walther PPK) than Obama, and THAT'S saying something.

Certainly two of the best examples.

Die Hard and Lethal Weapon really put the Beretta 92 on the map also.

When I lived in Los Angeles I had a good friend who had a Gunsmithing business inside the Pony Express Sport shop in Northridge CA. In 1994 the Northridge earthquake completly destroyed the gunsmithing shop and my friend went to work for ISS (Independent Studio Services) and worked full time rigging up guns for the movies.

That earthquake was the best thing that ever happened to him. I toured the ISS facilities many times and it was always fun especially test firing full auto guns with blanks. My friend, Kevin McCullough, apprenticed under Frank Pachmayr at Pachmayr guns in Los Angeles and was a brilliant gunsmith.

He once modified an 1892 Winchester to feed from an Uzi magazine and put an Uzi carbine barrel on it and called it "The ninety-tuzi". He also converted 303 SMLE's to 762X39 and fit them with AK mags. He was good friends with Jim Hoag, the 1911 gunsmith who I got to know and he was the nicest guy you'd ever want to meet.

I was a little bummed out that they wrecked the original Smith Model 10 with a grinder to match the screenplay.

    :(

I have a Model 10 that Novak's in Parkersburg smoothed up the action for me for an IDPA gun.

All jokes aside, it’s funny how wrong some 80’s movies got the advances in future technology. Back to the Future part 2 is a classic example. We passed that date four years ago.

Those two movies may have had a little something to do with my decision to buy a 92F back in 1989.

FYI, there is an earlier series on YT that they did with other guns like Magnum's 1911, Dirty Harry, etc.

More interesting movie and TV guns.
