Have any of you noticed that most the motorcycle forums out there are pretty much worthless? I've been trying to scoop up some information on a bike I'm looking at and have come across a few forums, but they seem to be inhabited by 15 year old kids with a 4th grade education.

There is nothing but trash talking, discussion of BS "mods" (ie: fender eliminators, turn signals, graphics, etc.) or stories of how they pulled a 10 mile wheelie on the freeway while splitting traffic.

I guess this is more of a rant than anything else, but it seems the cycle world (at least online) is primarily adolescent punks with good credit and poor judgement. Am I alone?

Thumpertalk.com This is a great motorcycle site. Mostly about dirt bikes but you can get street bike info there also.

http://www.southbayriders.com was conceived for San Francisco South Bay area riders, but others from different states have signed up with that forum and it's pretty good.

Hey Compy, this is primarily a Texas-based forum, but it will help to show that there are groups out there that are the opposite of what your experience has been.

What type of bike you looking at (sportbike, cruiser, etc.)? I've gotten some good info from the www.esportbike.com site (although I haven't been there in awhile, not much point since I ride a Harley!) There are a couple of good Harley forums as well, alot of them ride or have ridden other bikes as well, so might be able to give you some pointers also......

www.vtwintalk.com is a great forum for HD riders.

Lots of good tech info and rider interest threads.

    There is no OAF, yet.

The Kawasaki ZRX Owner's Association is a great site for everything ZRX. www.zrxoa.org

There is some trash talking of course, but there is a wealth of information about the ZRX there. The people on the site are great and will help you with any problem you have. Not many kids on there as the Rex doesn't appeal to the squids. But there are lots there who are young at heart.

I'm a ZRX rider and forum member. It's a pretty busy place. Generally the guys there are nice and overall less judgemental than the members here.

Thanks for the links. I was looking into the '05 Kawi ZX-6R. I think I have decided to save the money and buy a nice 4x4 quad instead though. Thanks again!

Perhaps you've already run across sportbikes.net.

At 34, I'm one of the older members, but the benefit of this board is that even the dumbest of questions gets asked and debated over. Sometimes more than once.

    +1 on zrxoa.org
