Good info on a new option in 2006
And YES it's for real...
At least it's on a gold wing and not a real bike. I'm surprised they haven't put one of those on a GW yet. I mean, it has EVERYTHING else.
here is another interesting thing I have found now that it has come up...
Just what you need in a wreck; an airbag to launch you off of the bike. Hilarious!
Harley Davidson is creating a rip-off version for their bikes.
Here's picture of their prototype:
Actually, it's designed to keep you FROM launching... or at least to greatly reduce the velocity of the launch... I'm sure people laughed at seat belts and air bags when they were first released too.
It's nice that they can stop you from "launching" but I can't say much for the knee/legs/and ankles that might have hit hard on the lower part of the front fairings of that gold wing. Ouch!
And to thin, the motorcycle was scoofed at ;Q .
"Helmets reduce my vision and I can't hear what's going on around me," he says as he pulls the earplugs out of his ears because the pipes are too loud.
hahaha, i can just see someone cruising down the highway and the airbag malfunction, going off and blowing the guy off his bike
Looking at the pictures of the dummy and the computer simulation, don't you guys think he has a long neck?
I actually think this is a great idea. It looks like the test proves that for head on colisions it could make a big difference and save rider's lives.
