Good article "Got A Gun?" on women in NYC seeking gun licenses and learning to use firearms. The only flaw is the often quoted myth that a gun in the home is 43 times more likely to kill family or friends from the erroneous "Kellerman" study.

it's nice to see gun-owners/enthusiasts acknowledged in the mass media, but the above article had several flaws. In addition to the one you mentioned ... the article repeatedly makes references to "packing guns" - which seems to imply carrying outside home (a "privilege that very few nyc dwellers will ever get). and do gun owner permit in nyc really mandate the firearm be "concealed" inside home? lastly the description of the application process seemed twisted a bit to discourage women .... ie. "One woman who is a homemaker had to bring in a letter from her husband saying that he supports her"

glad the media is paying a bit more attention though!
