We found a burn on the power strip by my wife’s chair where the charger to her computer was plugged in. Never figured out what caused it. Charger and computer were OK.

Then I found this on my dogs tags. Little brat must have been rooting around looking for any dropped snacks.

A GFCI does not protect against an over current condition such as a hot to neutral short. GFCIs sense imbalance between what comes out of the hot and what flows back to neutral. A direct shirt between hot and neutral would have a net current loss of zero. Circuit breakers handle this type of fault.

SIL had an old dog that would chew on the tv wires while they were watching a show. One day he bit it pretty good and he stood straight up and his tail went out , and the crap went all over the wall, .he never did it again, he was ok.

When we moved into our house, 20 years ago, I looked at these and said, " why are all the outlets upside down?"

How many homes are wired with the ground at 0600? ;)

Ground to the top is correct. If something falls it hits ground first. But everyone installs them looking like a happy face instead.

Completely agree! So, curious as I am, I did a web search for US Standard 120V outlet. Then I selected "images". You'd be surprised how many pictures show the GROUND at the bottom. A few show it at the top but, the majority show it at the bottom, which is wrong.

My wife and I built a new house, and I installed all plugs with ground on top.

I completely remodeled my mother in laws kitchen, and was about to put all her outlets in the proper way, but she wasn’t going to have it. Lol

Looks like he found a new place to pee, though he's prolly cured of going there, again.
