This is the company that engineered the sterile seed. Seeds that grow but do not produce viable seeds themselves, forcing farmers to buy their seeds , well, forever.

Uhhhh oh....... That's not good. Monsanto has been positioning themselves to gain a monopoly on seeds. They've been trying to eliminate heirlooms.

He who controls the food supply controls the masses.

Some plants don't breed true anyhow. They wish they could make roundup ready beans sterile, or at least have different color tissue in the field. That way your seed salesman would know if you replanted. They do a lot of research in plant genetics. They aren't after the heirlooms they want the big growers who buy bulk and want the latest disease resistance, drought hardiness and machine harvestable fruits.

As already stated, this is not news:

ST. LOUIS (Jan. 24, 2005) - Monsanto Company (NYSE: MON) announced today that it signed a definitive agreement to acquire Seminis, Inc., for $1.4 billion in cash and assumed debt… “

As one of my Ag Bus Professors used to say, "Food is power, and those that know it will own the world."

That was 30 years ago. I guess someone was paying attention.

BTW, before everyone starts pointing a bad finger at Monsanto, can anyone say "Syngenta"?

Anyone who does not see Monsanto and their business practices as a problem needs to reevaluate their vision of a free US populace. Genetically modified seeds don't worry you? Sterile seeds don't worry you? Livestock pumped full of growth hormone and antibiotics don't worry you? This is our FOOD we are talking about. Believe me, they want you to spend your time worrying about global warming and celebrity romances and who's going to take your guns.

Major corporations now control our food supply and are creating garbage food that is making an entire generation of fat, diabetic children. At the same time, our farmland is being turned into a dustbowl that will only produce mutated crops that rely on proprietary weed killer and fertilizers to grow.

The worst things a person can eat are now the cheapest, most available and most heavily advertised. I do not recall the last time I saw a major Disney motion picture that had a cross promotion with fruits and vegetables.

Head of organic broccoli - $2.49, 1/2 pound of grass fed beef - $5.99, Quart of organic orange juice - $1.75

    2 large fries - $2.00, 2 McDouble Cheeseburgers - $2.00, 2 liters of cola - $.99
