So I have been thinking.. IF I was to buy a Baer.. which would be the better choice the Monolith or the TRS? reason why I am asking is well they are both the same price.. opinions and comments welcome..

Are you going to carry it? If not get the Monolith.

mono is spec'd out like a PII except with the full cover.
most people would prefer a TRS for carry per greater holster selection, a little less weight, fixed sights, etc
but if you know you like the mono and want to carry it then it can certainly be done.

The Monolith doesn't really do anything for me.

I think it depends on use. I like my TRS, but if I wanted a gun to put in a pistol box and carry to the range, I'd get a Monolith.

The NN is the 40th b-day gun.. the Baer is merely next in line

TRS, minus the FCS. Like some have said, the Mono seems to be more of a range gun, and I don't buy any guns that may not do carry duty at one time or another. But that's just me.

I can completely understand that.. I am more looking at a collectors point of view now (thanks Bac) cheaper guns get carried so its no great loss if they have to spend time in the evidence locker (shudder).. That and I never have owned a "range" gun.. Like I said I like the looks of both of them.. the prices are identical, I am looking for opinions on why or why not for each model.
Thanks to those who have answered so far :wavey:

would that be to add to your collection or are you looking at them as being collector guns?

I would consider all Baers to be tough working guns, not collectors.

If you just want to add a Baer to your collection, I prefer the classic look of the TRS.

    +1

the only 2 "collectors" that i have are the TGO-1 (less than 200 made) and the Wilson Longslide (only made for ~2years). the others are shooters.

That TGO is one hell of a 1911. I had mine at the range yesterday with my Kimber Super Match.

Its been a while since I shot it and I was, again, amazed at just how awesome that gun is. Wow
