I cant understand the desire to keep the classified section as trim as possible, but recently I've been having posts where I commit to buying an item deleted. This is pretty annoying since I (and many others I suspect) do this with a quote of the sellers price, decription and terms in case of any difficulties or misunderstandings.

If you delete my post with the quote in it, then the seller can simply edit or delete his/her text to whatever they want and you have nothing to stand on in a case of misrepresentation. This is your board, I realize that but please reconsider the practice of deleting posts. It seems a bit heavy-handed and ARFlike.

I don't think the mods are doing this. One other user reported something like this once before.

Can you post a link to the thread in question?

Stealther, no one here is deleting posts. We may move a whole thread that has questionable or illegal content, but no one is doing anything to the classified section. We have received about a half dozen reports about exactly what you are saying. We think it is something with the software. Eric has been looking into it but you need to give us a specific thread or instance so Eric knows where to look.

    Thanks,
    Eddie C.

Thanks for the quick reply guys, BTW the first sentence of mine should read I CAN understand the need.

One of the threads that i've had two posts deleted from is this one.

Thanks for clearing it up with me, and I hope this info helps track the bug down.

    Regards,

Ok, I have to call BS on this now. I've had several posts now deleted in the classified section since my initial observation and it is getting irritating. I am also noticing not just my post but other peoples posts being deleted as well.

This may not be your S.O.P., but someone is certainly doing it. I would appreciate it if you could find out who is doing it and ask them respectfully to cut it out.

    :soap:

    Thanks!

Stealthier, I just had an idea..

every time you post in the Classified section for a while, copy the URL right after you are taken to the post. Paste the URL into Notepad along with a note of which thread it was. Save this notepad file.

Then, when a thread "goes missing" as you say, go back to the notepad file and try the URL that corresponds to the missing thread. If it is in fact gone, give us that URL here so we can see what is going on.

    Thanks and good luck.

That sounds like it might work. Otherwise I don't have a clue. I sent Eric a link to this thread when I answered it last time. If Eric sees this maybe he can tell us if he found anything.

Meanwhile, try what Scott is suggesting and see what comes of it. That is really perplexing...

Thanks guys, I listed a thread 4 posts above this one where I had posts deleted. I'm not the originator of the post but a reply to it, I'm not sure if that matters. Now that I think about it more, I've only had this problem in the Edged weapons and related items section, maybe Glockman99 is deleteing them? I'll try to keep better records.

Here is one that got deleted just today.

FYI I made a post HERE in the Firearms Listing section that in hindsight I probably shouldn't have but I was pretty riled up at the time. I kept it reasonable though my frustration is evident. Sorry!

I've sent Eric a link to this thread again asking him if he could help us with any answers he may have.

Again, we are truly sorry about this Stealther, but I really have no answers...:badpc:

    Bob,

I don't think its you, I've never had a problem in forums that you moderate, and judging by the posts in the Firearms listings, you don't seem to delete posts.

    Regards,
    Chris

It looks like 10mmG29 has had some posts deleted too. He references a sticky post that was apparantly removed, although I don't remember seeing the one he refers to.
