Best thing ever. I've been to the ATM at BofA maybe twice in the past several months. And they gave me a high enough monthly limit that I won't ever need to worry about not being able to do it.

I know, I took a picture of a check and deposited it with my phone last month, pretty cool how easy that is.

In before the guys who don't trust it and would never use it because they want to talk to the teller face to face when it comes to their money.

I dunno. The last cell phone check deposit thread brought out a few of them and one guy who just couldn't understand that it was OK that his check was destroyed by the person he gave it to.

Wtf is an ATM? Is that what that machine the distributes that green papery stuff at the building they call the bank?

I haven't been to my credit union in 7 years. I've done everything online or on my phone.

Iv been doing it with my USAA account for like a year or so. I love it. Cant remember the last time i actually went into a bank. When i had Wells Fargo I always tried to do ATM deposit, but half the time I would go the atm would not be accepting checks. Pissed me off to no end. Between that and adding fees, I jumped to USAA with mobile deposit and havent looked back since

It is cool, but since your cell provider owns the picture that you took of the check, are they also entitled to the money that the check represents?? :dunno:

Well, when you need cash, it's much easier to get it out of the atm then to shake 12 year olds upside down till the change falls out of their pockets.

Yup...been doing this or some if its early scanner variations for years.

USAA doesn't have tellers or ATMs (you can use any ATM and they refund the fee) so I guess they pretty much led the charge on this sort of stuff.

The best thing about it is that you get to keep the physical check you're depositing, so if there's any problem you still have it.

    Keep it for how long?

I mean, if I get a check, do I *HAVE* to hold onto it for a certain period of time?

I understand mobile banking...been doing it since it was ever offered... However, what do you folks do when you wanna deposit cash into your account? Like -- USAA -- there's no branches, right? You just sold a car and you you have $5,400.00 cash in hand... What do you do with it? Do you take a picture of it and hold onto it?

Buy a money order and mail it in, or give it to a friend with a local account and have them write you a check. My wife has a local account, so we just deposit the cash there and write a check for however much we want to go to the USAA account.
