KARE-TV Drunk driver hits State Patrol squad car February 14, 2010 13:05 PM MINNEAPOLIS - A drunk driver hit a State Patrol squad car around 2 a.m. Sunday while the trooper was going through a red light. Capt. Matt Langer with the State Patrol says the trooper was driving through a red light at Stinson Blvd. and Interstate 35W. The woman had a green light, but did not stop for the trooper and hit the squad car. Langer says the woman had been drinking and troopers arrested her at the scene. Neither she nor the trooper was hurt, but a passenger in the woman's car had minor injuries. Langer says because the trooper was going through a red light at the time of the crash, the State Patrol will do an internal investigation. This is the second time in two days that a drunk driver has hit a law enforcement officer. On Saturday, Langer says a teen who had been drinking rear ended a Minneapolis police car as two officers were getting out at a scene on Interstate 35W. Neither officer was seriously hurt and that teen was also arrested.
